Addison Kennedy Lenz

Addison Kennedy Lenz was born at 6:10am on Monday, February 25, 2008. She was a week early, weighed 8lbs 13oz, was 21 inches long, and born with a head of dark hair just like her brother.

After our long walk Sunday night, I started to feel some mild discomfort in my tummy and over the course of several hours, the pain became much more than mild! I labored at home until 4:00am at which point my contractions were coming strong and were only 4 minutes apart. Jon flew us up to the hospital, making a 30+ minute drive in 16 long, laboring minutes! I was all ready for the epidural only to be told that the only anesthesiologist on duty went into surgery just before we arrived and would not be out in time to relieve me.  Jon was very supportive and became my "pinching post" during contractions and the pushing. He was the one who told me that we had a girl with a big smile on his face!

So far, Addison seems to be a relaxed, mellow baby. She latched on right away and is nursing great. She sleeps well and is very tolerant of all of her brother's curiosities about her! Caden, on the other hand, has had a tougher adjustment. As Jon put it, he is up for an Academy for best actor in a drama! He is great with Addison and loves to give her kisses on her head and toes and he seems to now understand that she is a permanent addition to our family!
